Summer Internships in Community Anthropology and Local Ethnography:

Projects center around urban natural resources, sustainable placemaking, and data decision-support all with the local residents in mind. We are advancing the world of community-engaged student learning and we want YOU to join our winning team. BCe2 is seeking 4 interns with a background in anthropological coursework and ethnographic research:
  • 2 interns needed as “embedded ethnographers” within a research team working in the community. Research the BCe2 team while focusing on local interaction and community engagement in South Bend’s Southeast neighborhood.
  • 1 intern to study the educational experiences and outcomes of place-based authentic learning.
  • 1 intern to work with community partners to conduct oral histories, stories of historical challenge, and experience with place, and to create desirable digital formats that foster community engagement.

Job Requirements:

  • Motivated college students with a competitive academic standing
  • Background in anthropological research through coursework and, ideally, field research experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills to learn from and build rapport with the project team and community sponsors
  • Possess excellent observational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with ethnographic observation, fieldnotes and recording, and/or willingness to learn through fieldwork immersion
  • Ability to work in independent and group settings in a fast paced environment while sharing data for digital use
