Jeremiah Sult is a senior at IUSB studying sustainability.
“As a returning intern, South Bend native, and resident, I am proud to be part of the overall progress and re-development of South Bend. I have enjoyed the numerous community engagement aspects while improving neighborhood aesthetics with rain gardens – which also serve important ecological functions. The neighborhood is full of engaged and active citizens willing to make a difference and proud to be part of something greater such as SOAR. My sustainability studies at IUSB have focused on methods that encourage harmony between the planet, people, and prosperity. This interdisciplinary program has allowed me to apply a wide variety of concepts learned in the classroom to make a tangible difference in a real-world setting, while working with a diverse and talented team. I am also currently in the process of designing a mural for the Southeast Neighborhood Park, with input from residents, to showcase and strengthen the neighborhood’s identity.”
